HEART DISSECTION WORKSHOP (SUPPORTED BY OCCLUTECH)

Learning objectives:
Heart Dissection: Dissect, Discuss, Do and Avoid Miscue This Hands On Workshop is designed to dissect swine heart (anatomically identical to human heart) to understand the intricacies of atrial and ventricular septum, valves, conduction system pathway. Visual understanding of anatomy will be corroborated with transesophageal and intracardiac echocardiographic images of atrial and ventricular septum with simple and complex defects. Attendees will be able to create an atrial and ventricular septal defect and use the available devices to close the defects for better understanding of the vital structures that surround atrial septal defect, patent foramen ovale and all types of ventricular defects. Aortic, mitral, tricuspid and pulmonary valves will be dissected to understand the anatomical differences between these valves. There will be ample time for discussion with experts in the field and every question will be answered. At the conclusion of dissection: Images of complex cases (ASD/ PFO) will be viewed for interactive discussion and to further knowledge of all attendees.
